Veedersburg - Martha J. Ratcliff, 69, Veedersburg, died at 5:15 p.m. Tuesday, May 8 2001 in Provena USMC Logan campus, Danville Ill. She was born March 19 1932 in Veedersburg, the daughter of Dallas and Grace Gookins Hoagland. She married James E. Ratcliff June 27 1974 in Crawfordsville. He survives. She graduated from Veedersburg High School in 1950 and was a graduate of Danville Beauty College. She owned and operated a beauty shop in Veedersburg for several years. She was a member of the Veedersburg Christian Church. Survivors, besides the husband, include: four sons, Rex D.(Donna) Beck, Hillsboro, Rick J. (Lynn) Beck, Covington, Ryan J. (Penny) Beck, Veedersburg and Roger J. Beck, Lafayette; a daughter Rhonda J. Kelley, Veedersburg; three step daughters, Valerie (Carl) Hoagland, Veedersburg, Angela Renee Thomas, Covington, and Jessica Jama (Bryce) Bryan, Homer, Ill.; a sisters, Mary Jane (Gene) Frances, Veedersburg; three brothers, Lawrence (Kathryn) Hoagland, Veedersburg, Jim (Betty) Hoagland, Newtown and Don (Helen) Hoagland, Anderson; 12 grandchildren, six step grandchildren and a great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister. Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Dickerson Funeral Home, Veedersburg, with the Rev. Brian Nelson officiating. Burial was in Osborne Prairie Cemetery, Stone Bluff.
