Emily E, daughter of WIlliam and Lovina Marshall was born near Manilla, Rush county, Indiana May 14, 1850. Died March 18, 1915 at Yeddo, Indiana, aged 64 years 10 months and 4 days. She was married to John Beck at Waynetown, Ind April 6, 1870. To this union were born two children, Lulu E, wife of Edgar F. Shoaf of Kingman and Edward N. Beck of near Wallace. Both children still survive and were present during her last illness, doing all that loving hands could do to prolong the earthly existance of one who had spent many hours for them. While yet enjoying the tender years of childhood, she joined the Methodist Epispcopal Church and from that time on placed explicit trust in the omnimpotant love which caresses and soothes the brow of the weary traveler when none other can, or durst say, "Whither goest thou?" She lived in this great faith until death and was ever found doing her share in the promotion of the teachings of the Saviour Christ Jesus. Hers was a life filled with truth and sunshine ever exmplifying the command of the great Way-Showed, "Be thou perfect even as the Father in heaven is perfect," and striving at all times to bring happiness into her home and to those about her. On Jan 30, 1909 she was bereft of a husband and helpmate since which time she has resided in Yeddo, paying frequent visits to her children. Besides the two children, she is survived by two brothers, Melvin and lG Marshall, of Attica, one sister, Mrs. Mary McDuffy of Farmington Mo; 4 grandchildren and a legion of friends. Her parents, one brother, Tilman and one sister, Cornelia, have preceded her to the land of rest and sunshine. Short funeral services were held from the home at 10 o'clock Sat. morning, conducted by Mrs. CM Spencer. Burial in Centennial Cemetery.
