ATTICA — Funeral services for Gene Arthur Beavers, age 38, of 420 Main St., Attica, who died at 5:45 p.m. Saturday, March 14, at the Community Hospital in Williamsport, were held at 2 p.m. today, March 18, at the DeSutter Funeral Home here. Mr. Beavers died shortly after admittance to the hospital and death was attributed to a heart attack. The Rev. Harry Randolph officiated and burial was in the Riverside Cemetery. Mr. Beavers was born March 26, 1931, in Attica, the son of Bert and Gladys Yaley Beavers. He was married March 9, 1957, in Williamsport to Earlene Sipes, who survives. He was a life resident of Attica and had been manager of the Seaboard Loan Co. for the past 12 years. He graduated from Attica High School in 1951 and had been active in sports. A veteran of services in the Navy during the Korean War, he was a member of the American Legion Post 259. He was an associate member of the Wabash Valley.--waw

ATTICA -- Gene Arthur Beavers, 38, 420 E. Main St., Attica, died at Community Hospital in Williamsport Saturday at 5:45 p.m. following an apparent heart mizure (sp).  Death was very sudden and unexpected.

He was manager of the Seaboard Loan Co. the past 12 years.  He served in the navy from 195-1955 and was a veteran of the Korean campaign.  A graduate of Attica High School in 1951, he was an avid sports enthusiast.  During his junior and senior year of high school he was leading scorer on the Rambler varsity basketball squad.  He was a member of the Board of Directors of the Attica United Fund and served as vice president of the 1969 United Fund drive.  He was an associate member of the Wabash Valley Fraternal Order of Police, No141, and a member of American Legion Post 259, Williamsport.

Born in Attica on March 26, 1931, Mr. Beavers was the son of Bert and Gladys Yaley Beavers.  He was an Attica resident all of his life.  His marriage on March 9, 1957, at Williamsport, was to Earlene Sipes, who survives.

Surviving with the wife are two sons, Deny and Timmy, and one daughter, Debbie, all at home; four brothers, Paul and Charles, both of Attica; Robert , Lafayette and Edward, Reynolds;  two sisters, Mrs. John Rose, Kokomo, and Mrs. Maxine Hines, Lafayette.  One brother and one sister preceded him in death.

Friends will be received at DeSutter Funeral Home in Attica after 6 p.m. Tuesday.  Funeral services will be held in the DeSutter Chapel 2 p.m. Wednesday with Rev. Harry Randolph officiating.  Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery, with military rites presente by the American Legion.

serviving as pallbearers were Fred Thayer Jr., Robert Slinker, Reed Knowles, Jim Hall, Robert Henderson, James Shaffer, William Helgers and Dick Crane.

Interment was in Riverside Cemetery with Military graveside rites presented by American Legion Post . 259, Williamsport.
