TRIBUTE TO IRENE GALLOWAY BEASLEY

Friendship Garden Club -- Louise C. Bilsland "Beyond the stars there is no night, The God of glory gives the light That makes eternal day; No shadows fall, no clouds arise To dim the light of Paradise Beyond the star-lit way." Once again the Friendship Garden Club has been saddened by the passing of another beloved member, Irene Galloway Beasley, who answered her Master's call March 20, 1959, in St. Elizabeth Hospital of Danville. Ill., where she was making a valiant but futile struggle to regain her health. It has been said: "Living is but the turbulent slumber, Death the awaking." It is difficult in speaking of one, no longer with us to say what we would like, for the closer the associations have been the harder the task. However, associations, common joys, and sorrows are the materials with which we build memories of others. Our charter member was found to be a person of scholarly attainments, she was faithful to the interests of her family, and social organizations of which she was a member and the recognition of something to be lived for, beyond the mere thought of SELF. "We can not, LORD, THY purpose see, But all is well that's done by THEE." So GOD, in his wisdom decreed that her mission was fulfilled and he called her home; HE willed it so, it must be right. As the flowers in our gardens rest, so has she gone to rest and will awaken, and live again. For GOD said, "I go to make for you a resting place. For where I go you may go also," "So why with sorrow and saddened face, live out your Day? Be glad and unafraid." No greater assurance of man's continuous being has ever been given us than that conveyed in our LORD'S words to Martha, when HE said, "He that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live." Oh! GOD, bless us and keep us. Give us grace in life to go forward and may our purpose be steadfast as we gain knowledge from the lives of others.
