DANA, Ind. — Ward Beanblossom, 80, of Dana, a prominent educator and former Vermillion County superintendent of schools, died about noon Tuesday (March 18, 1975) at Union Hospital in Terre Haute. He had been a patient there two weeks. Born Dec. 9, 1894, in Indiana, he was the son of Henry and Katherine Watson Beanblossom. He was married over 50 years to the former Nellie Miller, who survives. Mr. Beanblossom received his bachelor degree at Indiana State University and his masters from Columbia University. In addition to the county post, he also taught and was superintendent at area schools for several years. He was a member of the Dana United Methodist Church, Order of Star Chapter 305 as a past patron and a 50 year member of the Asbury Masonic Lodge 320. He was a member of the Scottish Rite Valley of Terre Haute and Zorah Shrine. Mr. Beanblossom had taught Sunday school for 32 years and had served on the church board of trustees and the Dana town board.Other survivors include several nieces and nephews, including Mrs. Mildred Mitchell of Marshall, Ill, who formerly resided in their home. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Overpeck Funeral Home. The Rev. Glen Clark will officiate. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends will be received from 5-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
