Mrs. Lucy Jane Brown Beamer, wife of Reuben Beamer of this city died Tuesday evening at 7:30 o’clock at her home on East Jackson Street. Mrs. Beamer had been in failing health for 10 years and had been an invalid practically for three years, although she had been confined to her bed but 8 weeks. Mrs. Beamer was a daughter of Joseph and Sarah Brown, pioneer settlers of Davis Township, this county where Mrs. Beamer was born Dec 8, 1840. She was first married to Thomas Dickerson who died shortly after returning from service in the Union Army during the Civil War. She was the mother of two children by her first marriage, both having died in infancy. She was married to Reuben Beamer of Attica Jan 13, 1883, after which she came to this city to live, the remainder of her life being spent here. Mrs. Beamer was a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church, having first been a member of the organization at Brown’s Chapel in Daivs Township. After moving to Attica she moved her membership to the Attica Church where she was an active workers and regular attendant until ill health intervened. She was a woman of beautiful Christian character and her life was one of service to her family, the church and community. Mrs. Beamer was kind and sympathetic to those in need or in trouble and always had a word of cheer for every one. She was charitable and in her quiet way went about the city doing good – giving substantial aid as well as wise counsel. Besides the husband she is survived by a step daughter, Mrs. Russell E. Smith who closed her own home a year ago that she might return to the home of her father and care for her stepmother, thus in a most beautiful way showing her love for and appreciation of one who had done so much for her when a child. The funeral will be conducted this afternoon at 2 o’clock at the family home, Rev. JJ Wilson, pastor of the ME Church officiating. Burial will be made at Riverside Cemetery, this city. - kbz
