Wingate—William “Bill” Barnett, 68, died Saturday morning, April 22, 1989 in Mobile, Ala., where he had lived since 1969.
He was born July 22, 1920 in Wingate. He was married in July 1944 in Lafayette to Florence Fenters, who survives.
He graduated from Wingate High School in 1939. He retired from the Air Force in 1967, then was employed at Alabama Drydock Shipbuilders where he retired in 1984.
He was a member of New Hope Chapel Church of Wingate.
Surviving besides his wife are a daughter, Mrs. Keith (Susan) Cleveland, West Lebanon; one brothers, Clarence, Palmetto, Fla.; two sisters, Mrs. Norma Jean Mataresa, Punta Gouda, Fla., and Mrs. Rosemary Cromartie, Las Vegas, Nev., and one granddaughter.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Green Lawn Cemetery, Wingate, with Junior Haas officiating.
Thomas Funeral Home, Waynetown, is in charge of arrangements.-s
