BARNETT, Matilda Salisbury

-- Waynetown, Oct 26 - Matilda Barnett died at the home of her son, Clyde Barnett, at Christian Union Chapel, near here Friday evening at 5:30 o'clock from paralysis, following a short illness lasting from late Tuesday morning. Mrs. Barnett was born Sept 12, 1849 in Fountain County but had lived at Christian Union Chapel practically all her life. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Salisbury a prominent farmer of Fountain. She was well known here for her devoted charity work. Mrs. Barnett was a staunch church worker, being a member of the Christian Church. She was an enthusiastic worker in the Ladies Aid Society of the church and frequently entertained the young people of the community and was known as Mother Barnett. Her husband, John Barnett, died Feb 12, 3 years ago. She is survived by two sons, D.W. Barnett and C.L. Barnett of Christian Union Chapel and one sister, Mrs. George Switzer of North Dakota. Owing to the board of health ruling the funeral services will be held from the Masonic Cemetery Sunday afternoon at 2 with interment at that place. -- kbz
