George W. Barnard Sr., 59, of Brooksville, Fla., and formerly of 930 Cunningham in Danville, was pronounced dead-on-arrival at 3:20 p.m. Friday (Oct. 15, 1976) at Community Hospital in Williamsport, Ind. Mr. Barnard, who resided in Danville until two years ago, was visiting the area when he was stricken with a heart attack. He had been under a doctor's care for heart trouble. He was born in Danville on Nov. 24, 1916, to William F. and Bessie May Rogers Barnard. He attended Danville schools and worked as a driver for Lovelace Trucking before retiring in 1973. He was married in Covington, Ind., Oct. 20, 1937, to Anna Elizabeth Bannon, who survives. Also surviving are two sons, George W. Jr. of Danville, Kenneth D. at home; four daughters, Mrs. Patsy Reid and Mrs. Donna Walker, both of Danville, and Mrs. Judy Powell and Karen Barnard, both of Gary, Ind.; 14 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Three brothers, Isaac of Ontario, Canada, Howard of Danville and Lester in Ohio, also survive. Mr. Barnard was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter and a great-grandchild. He was formerly a member of First Church of the Nazarene, Moose Lodge 1001 and was a current member of International Brotherhood of Teamsters Local 26. His hobby was fishing. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Services will be at 3 p.m. Monday at Pape Memorial Home, with the Rev. Don Goodwin officiating. Burial will be at Atherton Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.--waw
