COVINGTON, Ind. (CNS) — Mrs. Vera Barkley, 83, of Covington, died at 7 a.m. Thursday (Nov. 26, 1970) at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Danville, Ill., where she had been a patient for two days. She had been ill for two years and seriously ill for two weeks. Born April 17, 1887 in Danville, she was the daughter of Charles and Catherine Geiger Franklin. She was married on Oct. 30, 1907 to Charles W. Barkley who died Feb. 27, 1961. She was a member of the Covington United Methodist Church, Royal Neighbors, Troy Home Demonstration Club and the Win One Class. Survivors include a son, Charles R. of Hammond and a granddaughter, Mrs. Bonnie O'Brien. She was preceded in death by a sister. Services will be at 2 p.m. EST Sunday at the Hegg Funeral Home, with the Rev. Robert Miller officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery. Friends will be received at the funeral home after noon Saturday.--waw
