Thomas Miles Barker, age 51, of Newton, Ill, a former resident of the Kingman and Covington communities died at 8:10 a.m. Thursday July 19 at his residence at 333 East Main Street, Newton. He had been in ill health for the past year. Mr. Barker was born August 4, 1910 in Kingman, the son of Floyd and Ora Hershberger Barker. he was married twice, first to Mrs. Pat Kramer of Covington Rt. 2, and then to Julie Logue of Newton, who survives. He had been a resident of Newton for the past 10 years and prior to that time lived in the Kingman and Covington communities. Surviving in addition to his wife are one son, John Thomas Barker of Indianapolis; several brothers and sisters, Morgan Barker of Willow HIll, Ill; Loyd of Brooklyn, NY, Mrs. Lila king of Hammond and Orin Barker and a sister, Nellie whose wehreabouts are unknown. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Seesangood Funeral Home in Newton with graveside rites at 4 at Mt. Hope cemetery. The Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home was in charge of local arrangements.
