Hoopeston, Ill.—Robert F. Barker, 69, 513 N. Sixth Ave., Hoopeston, died at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 24, 1989 at United Samaritans Medical Center, Logan Campus, Danville, Ill.

  He was born March 13, 1919 in Veedersburg, the son of Nelson Lee and Bessie A. Redenbaugh Barker. He was married Dec. 22, 1945 to Martha Mae Tucker, who survives.

  He was a resident of Hoopeston for many years. He worked for Vermilion Iron Works in Hoopeston as an inspector for 37 years, retiring in January 1977.

  He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and served in Italy and Germany, where he received many decorations for his service, including the Bronze Star for bravery.  Surviving besides his wife are five sisters, Evelyn Porter, Elwood, Ill.; Maxine Miley, Rossville, Ill.; Marjorie Vest, Paxton, Ill., and Norma Deck and Linda Livingston, both of Hoopeston, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and a sister.

  Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today (Friday) at Hamilton-Orr Funeral Home, Hoopeston, with the Rev. Wheeler T. Harden officiating. Burial will be in Mann’s Chapel Cemetery near Rossville with military graveside services. -s

Sixth Ave., died at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan 24, 1989, at USMC, Logan campus  in  Danville.  He was born March 13 1919, in Veedersburg Ind ., the son of Nelson Lee and Bessi A. Redenbaugh Barker. He married Martha Mae Tucker on Dec 22 1945. She  survives. He is also survived by five sisters, Evelyn Porter of Elwood, Maxin Miley of Rossville, Marjorie Vest of Paxton, and Norma Deck and Lin da Livingston, both of Hoopeston; and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Barker was a member of the First Christian Church of Hoopeston and Ira Owen Kreager American Legion Post 384 of Hoopeston. He enjoyed gardening. Funeral services: 2 p.m. Friday at Hamilton-Orr Funeral Home in Hoopeston with Rev. Wheeler T. Harden officiating. Burial: Mann's Chapel Cemetery near Rossville,  with military graveside services. Visitation: 5-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
