BARKER, Lois Childers - Fountain County INGenWeb Project

Lois Barker, 93, Covington, died 9:47 p.m. Monday in the St. Vincent Williamsport Hospital emergency room. Mrs. Barker was a homemaker and member of Covington Senior Citizens. A life resident of Fountain County, she lived at Cates most of her life and moved to Covington in 1982. She was born July 6, 1910, at Fountain County, to Richard and Bessie Smith Childers. She married Vaughn O. Barker on Oct. 5, 1928. He died March 25, 1978. Survivors include a daughter, Virginia New, Covington; a son, Maurice, Denver, Colo.; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. A daughter, two sisters and a brother are deceased. Funeral services are scheduled 2 p.m. Friday in Shelby Funeral Home, Covington, with Pastor Paul Kent officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery. Friends may call 4-7 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.
