Charles W. Banning, a prominent farmer of Warren County died Monday morning about 7 o’clock at his home north of Independence a few miles.  Death was caused by sciatic-rheumatism, Mr. Banning became ill Tuesday evening of last week, taking with a chill. His temperature ran up to 104 degrees and he was delirious for four days.  Mr. Banning was one of the leading farmers of Warren County and was a man of strict honesty and integrity. He was a man of progressive ideas and not only pushed his own business, but stood for the advancement of his community. The deceased was 35 years old last November and is survived by a wife and four children – Ernest, Mildred, John and a baby about 4 months old.  He also leaves his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Staten Banning and the following brothers and sisters: Henry Banning, Mrs. William Clawson, Mrs. Roy Solomon who resides north of Independence; Mrs. Wallace Buck of Marshfield, and Grace who resides near Indianapolis. The funeral was conducted from the UB Church in Independence at 2 o’clock Tuesday afternoon, Rev. Snider of Crawfordsville officiating.  Burial was made in the Armstrong Cemetery near Gren Hill of which he was a member officiating with their last rites at the grave. - kbz
