WINGATE - Dawsen C. Bane, 78, a retired timber buyer and owner of the Bane Sawmill at Wingate, died Sunday at Covington Manor Nursing Home when he had resided for the past year. He had resided here for more than 40 years before retiring and moving to Veedersburg in 1974. Born Sept. 25, 1898, at Scottsburg, he was the son of Robert and Phoebe Jane Weeks Bane. He was first married in June 21, 1917, to Ethel Bryant. She died in 1970. He was next married in 1972 to Alberta Craig of Veedersburg. She survives. Other survivors include four sons, Robert, Roy, Irvin and Kenneth of Wingate; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, seven brothers and two sisters. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Thomas Funeral Home at Waynetown with the Rev. Tom True officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery at Wingate. Friends may call at the funeral home after 4 p.m. Tuesday.
