Austin - Vernon William Bales, 81, N. Christie Rd, Austin, died at his residence at 10 p.m. Sept 19, 1995. He was born July 14, 1914 in Fountain County, the son of Jasper and Naomi Abbott Bales. He was married to Gertrude Allen. He was married to Gertrude Allen. He was a farmer in Fountain County for most of his life. He was a member of the Church of God. Surviving are two sons, Warren, Danville, Ill; Norman, Warsaw; two daughters, Sharon Harmeson, Prescott Valley, Ariz; Marlyn DObbles, West Monroe, LA, a step son, Larry Craig, Bloomfield; a step daughter, Wanda Fields, North Vernon; six grandchildren; four step grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. today at Buchanan Funeral Home, Austin with Rev. Don Allen officiating. Burial in Union Cemetery Newtown.
