Mrs. Naoma BALES, 67, died early Tuesday following a heart attack at her home. Born July 22, 1890, 3 miles NW of Mellott, ehd aughter of Marion and Martha Jane Miller Abolt. She married Jasper N. Bales in 1909 and he preceded her in death in 1930. She was a member of the Newtown Baptist Church. Surrviving are two sons, Vernon of Veedersburg and Melvin of LInden; a brother, Bordon of Mellott; a sister, Oveta Smith of Mellott and 5 grandchildren. Funeral services were held Thursday at Crumley Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Burial was in Union Cemetery northwest of Mellott. - typed by kbz

Newtown - Mrs. Naomi Bales, 67, who resided alone on her farm north of Mellott, died at about midnight Monday at her home after having become suddenly ill at 11 p.m. She was able to call the doctor after she was ill. Mrs. Bales was born July 22, 1890 on the farm of her parents, Marion and Martha Jane Miller Abolt. She was married in 1909 to Jasper N. Bales, who died in 1930. Since then she had continued her residence at their farm. Mrs. Bales was a member of the Baptist Church in Newtown. Her husband and infant daughter preceded Mrs. Bales in death. Survivors include two sons: Vernon Bales of near Veedersburg; and Melvin Bales of near Linden; a brother, Bordon Abolt, residing northwest of Mellott and one sister, Mrs. Oveta Smith. The body is at the Crumley Funeral Home in Hillsboro where friends may call after noon Wednesday. Srevices will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home with burial in the Union Cemtery near Mellott. -- thanks so much to Connie W.

Mellott -- Funeral services were held for Mrs. Naoma Bales at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Crumley Funeral Home in Hillsboro with Rev. Fred Johnson, pastor of the Baptist Church in Newtown officiating. Pallbearers were Marvin, Milford and Robert Abolt, Elton Slusser, Harry Abolt and Alfred Harris. Flower bearers were Mrs. Marvin Abolt, Mrs. Milford Abolt, Mrs. Robert Abolt, Mrs. Elton Slusser, Beverly Abolt, Sue and Sharon Bales, Carolyn Abolt, and Marjorie Schafer. Organ music was furnished by Mrs. Joe Newman. Burial was in the Union Cemetery northwest of here. thanks so much to Connie W.
