WEST BRANCH, Mich. — Mary N.
Bala, 87, West Branch, Mich., died Monday, Oct. 30, 2006 in West Branch
Regional Medical Center. She was born Sept. 21, 1919 in Covington, the daughter
of Lynn and Madge (Gilbert) Norris. She was married to George Bala, who
preceded in death. She had moved to West Branch in April 2003, formerly of
Prudenville and Florida. She was a life member of Troy Chapter #145 O.E.S. in
Covington and a member of the Eagles and Elks Clubs, both of Houghton Lake and
the First United Methodist Church in West Branch. Survivors include: her
children, Michelle (Terry) Crossley, Jackson, Martha Rau, West Branch, Michael
(Joyce) Balan, Queensburg, N.Y., and Lawrence (Micki) Bala, New Baden, Ill.; 11
grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by
her parents and a brother, Robert Norris. Funeral services were at 11 a.m.
Thursday in Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home, West Branch, with the Rev.
Mary Lynch-Mallory officiating. Burial was in Denton Township Cemetery,
Prudenville. Memorial contributions may be made to the John Rau Scholarship
