Newtown - Albert Baity, age 98, one of a family of 11 brothers and sisters and 13 half-brothers and sisters, died at 5:15 a.m. Saturday at the Alward Nursing Home in Attica. He had been confined to home the past year and had been at the nursing home a week. He had made his home with his son, Arley, in Newtown. A farmer and laborer in Danville, Ill., and Veedersburg, he was born Feb. 13, 1867 at Xenia, Ill., to James and Barbara Jane Smith Baity. He was married to Celestia Brown Nov. 14, 1896. She died in 1949. He was a member of the Mormon Church in Lafayette. Survivors include: one daughter, Mrs. Al Hannemann of North Lake, Ill.; three sons, Wheeler of Stone Bluff, Wilbur of Chicago and Arley of Newtown; two brothers, Simon of Hillsboro and Perle of Danville, Ill.; one sister, Mrs. Rena Tittle of Danville; 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Crumley-Williams Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Burial was in Rockfield Cemetery southeast of Veedersburg.
