Newton — Funeral services for Charles F. Bacon, age 79, who died, at 10 p.m. Wednesday, March 17, in Home Hospital in Lafayette, were held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Crumley-Williams Funeral Home in Hillsboro. The Rev., Arthur Schenck, Newtown Methodist minister, officiated and burial was in Meharry Cemetery, three miles east of Newtown. Mr. Bacon, who has been a patient in the hospital two weeks, had been ill the past three and one-half months and he had undergone surgery in Robert Long Hospital, Indianapolis, in January. He was born June 29, 1885, in Zionsville, the son of Seith and Louie Miller Macon. He was brought to Newtown when a child of four. He was married Oct. 4, 1905 to Louella Martin, who survives. He was a retired farmer and insurance salesman. He was a member of the Methodist Church in Newtown and the Attica-Williamsport Rotary Club. Surviving, in addition to the wife, are: one daughter, Mrs. Ruth Lockmiller of Auburndale, Fla.; one son, Robert Bacon of Newtown; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
