Vernon Babb of Mellott Dies
Retired Farmer had been ill for two years
Rites Wednesday
Mellott, Aug 9
Vernon Renshaw Babb, 53 of this place, died at Culver Hospital at 2 o'clock this afternoon. He had been ill for two years with carcinoma. Born in Stone Bluff, May 2, 1884, Mr. Babb was a son of George and Mary Shelley Babb. He married Elizabeth Stephens June 12, 1904. Mr. Babb had been a farmer until two years ago and moved to mellott last November. Surviving are the widow, two daughters, Mrs. Alfred Morse and Mrs. Martha Miller both of Momence, Ill; one son, Vernon Ray Babb at home; one sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Short, Cedars Crossing, BC; two brothers, John Babb, Lafayette, and Cecil McQuire, Champaign, Ill and 7 grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 o'clock Wed afternoon. Where the rites will be held has not been definitely decided. Burial will be made in Masonic Cemetery, Waynetown.
