Vernon R. Babb, 71 of Mellott, a farmer all his life, died at Lakeview Hospital in Danvville, Ill, at 3:30 o'clock Monday afternoon. He was taken ill Sunday mornig and was taken to the hospital Monday morning. Mr Babb was born near Covington Jan 15, 1870 a son of Elijah and Lucinda Moore Babb. In 1891 he married Emma Parkerson at Veedersburg. He was a member of the Osborne Prarie Church. Surviving are the widow; a daughter, Ellott; a son, Vernon W. Babb, high school teacher at Bowling Green, Ohio; a brother, Julius S. Babb, Granville, Ill and four grandchildren,

Vernon R. Babb, son of Elijah & Lucinda Babb was born near Covington Jan 15, 1870. He gew to manhood in Fountain Co and has always been a resident of the county. He was united in marriage to Emma PARKERON Nov 15, 1891 and had two children: V. W. Babb of Bowling Green Ohio and Sylvia Haniford of near Hillsboro. The surviving members besides his wife and chldren are 4 grandchildren: Vernon Edward and Joe J. Haniford and Jane & Carol Babb. Surviving also is a brother, Julius of Danville, Ill. Several years ago he united with Osborn Prarie Church. He spent his entire life on a farm and was engaged in farming up to the time of his death. After a very brief illness he departed life at Lake View Hospital, Danville Illinois Feb 17, 1941 having lived 71 years 1 month 2 days. Mr. Babb was honest very industrious and an upright citizen, highly esteemed by his neighbors and friends. Funeral services were held at the Congregational Church in Sterling 2 o'clock Wed afternoon with Rev. Charles E. Howard in charge; interment Mt. Hope, Covington.
