VEEDERSBURG - Roy Babb, 79, lifetime resident of Veedersburg, died at his rural home at 6 p.m. Friday. He had been ill for the past 11 years and had suffered a series of strokes prior to his death. Before his retirement, Babb had been employed as a lineman at the telephone company for 35 years. He was born in Fountain County Aug. 13, 1885, the son of John R. and Adelaid Grubb Babb. He was never married. He was a member of the Masonic Order 491 of Veedersburg. Surviving are one sister, Mrs. Audrey Whiting of Veedersburg, a brother, Winfield Babb of Rockford, Ill.; five nieces, and five nephews. Two sisters preceded him in death. Funeral services will be held in the Fishero Funeral Home at 2 p.m. Monday with Rev. Conley Rowland officiating. Burial will be in Osborne Prairie Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Sunday. A Masonic memorial service will be conducted at the funeral home at 7 p.m. Sunday.
