Mrs. Effie Babb, 74, life resident of Hillsboro died shortly before noon Thanksgiving day at the home of a daughter Mrs. Charline Kragewell? In LaCrosse, Wis. She had gone to her daughter’s home for an extended visit last spring and suffered another stroke of paralysis on March 7.  The body arrived in Danville, Ill early Saturday morning and was removed to the home of her son Mr. and Mrs. Riley Congleton of near Hillsboro to await the funeral service which was held in the Antioch Christian Church of Mellott Sunday afternoon with burial in the Newtown cemetery.  Claude Harding, Clayton Work, Miss Hilda Harding and Mrs. Vera Shade sang accompanied at the piano by Mrs. Lucille Parnell. The pall bearers were: Hardy and Russell Bever; Leslie Bell; John House and Lowell Janeway of Hillsboro and George Simpson of Waynetown.  The flower bearers were Mrs. Mary Bryant of Waynetown; Miss Martha Bever and Mesdames John Houser; Martyn Houser; Claude Harding; Claude Hershberger and Lowell Janeway.  Burial was in Newtown cemetery.  Mrs. Babb was born April 22, 1873 on a farm north of Hillsboro, daughter of Isaac and Mary Jane Riley.  She was married to Ira Congleton and later to Frank Babb, both of whom preceded her in death.  She was a member of the Antioch Christian Church and charter member of the Pocahontas Lodge of Mellott.  Survivors are three daughters: Mrs. Kragewski at whose home she died: Mrs. Anna Foxworthy, Hillsboro and Mrs. Victor Eckwell, Peoria, Ill and son Riley Congleton, Hillsboro.
