Charles Robert Babb,
73, of Danville, Illinois, died at 8:45 a.m. Thursday, September 21, 2000 at
his residence. Born December 1, 1926 in Danville, he was the son of the late
Oscar and Lora (Brannon) Babb. His marriage was to Norma Redenbaugh on November
22, 1948 in Rockville. She survives. Also surviving, are; four daughters,
Eunice (Eugene) Delp of Covington, Carla (Dallas) Davis and Helen (James)
Preston, both of Danville, and Janie (Ritchie) Keller of Cayuga; one son,
Charles (Kendra) Babb of Ft. Stewart, Ga.; two sisters, Elizabeth Turpin of
Thorntown and Helen Carr of San Diego, Calif.; a sister-in-law, Dorothy
(Donald) Powers of Cleveland, Tex.; ten grandchildren, Theresa, Travis, Brian,
Corrina, Glenn, Charles, Adam, Chancy, Jimmy and Marcus; and 14
great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Herman Babb
and two brothers-in-law, Robert Bolt and Jim Dodson. Mr. Babb attended
Marshfield Grade School and West Lebanon High School. He was in the U. S. Navy
during World War II. He worked for General Motors for 30 years as an automobile
inspector. Mr. Babb attended the First Church of the Nazarene in Danville. He
was a member of 579 UAW. His hobbies were mechanics, music and the guitar.
Visitation was Sunday at Pape Memorial Home & Gardens. Service there on
Monday with Rev. Grover Williams officiating. Interment in VA National Cemetery
with military rites by American Legion. –
