VEEDERSBURG -- Funeral services will be held for Joseph James Auxier Jr. at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Sever Mortuary Chapel on the Hill in Veedersburg. Rev. William Rudd will officiate. Burial will be in Lower Mound Cemetery near Covington. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Saturday. The 18-year-old Auxier was killed Friday morning when a log truck being loaded toppled over pinning him between the truck and a tree. The accident occurred while he and his father were loading logs on the truck at the Beebe & Son Sawmill near Veedersburg. Young Auxier was born Oct. 18, 1946, in Salyersville, Ky., the son of Joseph and Ruby Edwards Auxier. He was the eldest of nine children. He was reared in Mt. Ayr, Ind., near Rensselaer, and graduated from the Mt. Ayr High School. He moved with his family to Rt. 2, Covington, two years ago. He had worked part-time in various sawmills since he was 14 and was working full-time at the Beebe & Son Sawmill at the time of his death. Survivors include the parents; two brothers, Dallas and Frank, and six sisters, Roberta, Betsy, Marietta, Barbara, Ruth Ann and Loretta, all at home.
