AUTER, Nellie Chandler

Mrs. Nellie E. Auter, 84, of Covington, died at 2:30 a.m. Monday, June 4, 1979, at Ben Hur Nursing Home in Crawfordsville. She had been a patient two weeks. She had resided at Covington Manor Nursing Home four years.
A former resident of the Liberty neighborhood east of Georgetown, Ill., she had resided in Covington most of her life. She had been employed at Maple Corner Restaurant in Covington for several years and had been a seamstress at Snower’s Sewing Factory in Danville, Ill.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Covington and Ladies Aid. She also was a member of the Business and Professional Woman’s Club.
Born July 8, 1894, in Georgetown, she was the daughter of William and Minta McCool Chandler. She was married to Riley Auter, who preceded her in death.
Survivors include a son, Chandler Max of Covington; three sisters, Mrs. Sylvia Smith and Mrs. Minerva Boland, both of Georgetown, and Mrs. Belva Poulus of Danville; three grandchildren, Max E. Auter of Fort Myers, Fla., Mrs. David (Cheryl Lynn) Rowe of West Lebanon and Mrs. Robert (Cindy) Hunt of Veedersburg Route 4; and eight great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Robert Dale, two brothers and two sisters.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home, with the Rev. Glenn Ray Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery. Visitation will be from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. – thanks to S
