COVINGTON — Mrs. Mabel Blanch Auter, 71, a Covington resident the last 30 years, died at 4:20 a.m. Friday in St. Elizabeth Hospital at Danville, Ill., where she had been a patient since last Christmas Day. She had been in ill health three years. She was a native of Iowa, born Feb. 23, 1895 to Ira and Emma Tyler Riffle. She married Ingold Auter on Sept. 27, 1911. Surviving besides the husband are six children, Mrs. Fern (Margaret) Cooper and Mrs. Don (Vivian) Claypool of Mellott, Ira J. Auter of Veedersburg, Mrs. Wayne (Jean) Warrick of Covington, Harold Wayne Auter of Watseka, Ill., and Mrs. Robert (Sue) Smith of Byron, Ill.; two sisters, Mrs. Herschel Cary of Danville, Ill., and Mrs. Emma Tompsett of Portland, Ore., and seven grandchildren. A brother preceded Mrs. Auter in death. She was a member of the United Church of Christ in Mellott. Funeral services are announced for 2 p.m. Sunday at the Hegg Funeral Home in Covington, where friends may call after 2 p.m. Saturday. Rev. Charles Kraft of the Mellott church will officiate, with burial in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
