AUTER, Esther Peterson - Fountain County INGenWeb Project

Attica - Esther Emily Peterson Auter, 84, of 607 E. Jackson St, died at 4:30 a.m. Monday Aug 24 in St. Elizabeth Hospital Medical Center, Lafayette.  Born Aug 13, 1908 in Mattoon, Ill, she lived in Chicago before moving to Attica in 1971. Mrs. Auter graduated from University of Illinois and took special courses at University of Chicago and Northwestern University. She was the supervisor of personnel for Spector Freight Co in Chicago. She married Harry F. Auter in Chicago Oct 3, 1953.  He died Jan 13, 1984.  A member of First United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and the church advisor board, she also sang in the church choir and served on many committees of the church. She was the director of the Counsel on Aging and she and her husband were the originators of the Attica House, Inc of which she was president. While living in Chicago she was active in many organizations. Surviving is a stepson Robert Auter of East Chicago.
