AUSTIN, Ora Russell

Mellott—Ora Russell Austin, 72, Mellott, died at 5:25 p.m. Saturday, April 22, 1989 in St. Elizabeth Hospital Medical Center, Lafayette.
He was born June 22, 1916 in Fountain County, near Mellott, the son of Jacob and Agnes Williams Austin. He lived most of his life in the Mellott area. His first marriage was Feb. 3, 1940 in Darlington to Faye Cox, who preceded him in death Aug. 24, 1981. He was married Sept. 15, 1983 to Mary Margaret (Furr) Keller, who survives.
He was educated at New Richmond and attended Mellott Church of Christ.
He was a self-employed mechanic in Mellott and he had also farmed and did custom hay bailing in the Mellott area.
Surviving, besides his wife are two sons, Russell E., Thorntown, and David, Mellott; one daughter, Mrs. Clifford (Carolyn Sue) Harvey, Route 2, Ladoga; three stepsons, David Keller, Mellott; Michael Keller, Lafayette, and Master Sgt. Vernon Keller, who is stationed with the Air Force at Bunker Hill; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Virginia Pattengale, Mellott; five brothers, John, Crawfordsville; Wayne, Indianapolis; Chester “Pete” and Stan, both of Mellott, and Cecil, Pittsboro; five grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his parents, one granddaughter, one great grandson, one brother and one sister.
Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today at Maus Funeral Home, Attica. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Maus Chapel with the Rev. William Chapman officiating. Burial will be in Meharry Cemetery, Wingate. -s
