Mrs. Hazel Prudence Atkinson, 68, 412 Wayne Ave., died at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday after suffering a heart attack at her home. She had fractured an ankle five weeks ago. A Crawfordsville resident the last 35 years, she was a native of Wingate, born Jan. 4, 1896 to Lewis and Flora Lane Springer. She attended schools in Elmdale and Wingate and spent her life in this county. She married Luther A. Atkinson in Crawfordsville Feb. 14, 1914. Mrs. Atkinson was a member of the Christian Church here. Surviving are the husband; two daughters, Mrs. Thelma Rankin of Chicago and Mrs. Evelyn Rolan of Crawfordsville; a son, Earl of Chicago; six grandchildren; three brothers; Brook of Crawfordsville and Ralph and Dale of Waynetown, and a sister, Mrs. Ruth Williams of Waynetown. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Lester, and a sister, Zelda May. Funeral services are announced for 3 p.m. Thursday at the Servies Funeral Home in Waynetown, where friends may call. Rev. R. L. Shotts will officiate, and interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.
