Mellott - James M. Archer, 82, died at 8:15 p.m. Saturday at Culver Hospital. He had been taken there after a stroke at 3 a.m. Saturday. He was born April 3, 1882, near Mellott to Charley E. and Laura Short Archer. He was married to Teda Waller Sept 19, 1903 at Hillsboro. He was a member of the South Christian Church of Mellott. He had lived a mile northeast of Mellott all his life. His residence was on a site homesteaded by his great great grandfather, Samuel Archer in 1826. He was educated in Fountain County and was a farmer all his life. He is survived by his wife, a sister, Mrs. Tom Wiggins, of Mellott and two nieces, Mrs. Irene Coffman and Mrs. Lenore Fouth both of Rt 3, Veedersburg. He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter. Services will be 3 p.m. Tuesday at Servies Funeral Home at Waynetown, Rev. John Servies will officiate. Burial will be in Dry Run Cemetery southeast of Mellott. Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 p.m. Monday.
