MELLOTT—Death came Saturday evening, July 5, 1941, to Charles E. Archer, 83, prominent farmer of Richland Township. He had been ill six months and confined to his home the past three weeks. Death was due to complications. Mr. Archer died at the farm home a mile east and a mile north of Mellott where he was born and spent his entire life. He had continued to direct operation of the farm until his final illness. He was active in civic affairs and the work of Antioch Church here. Born Dec. 13, 1857, he was a son of James and Harriet Ray Archer. He was married Jan. 1, 1880 to Miss Laura Short at the Short homestead in Richland Township. She died in July 1926 and on Jan. 17, 1928 he was married to Nettie Hatt, who survives. Also surviving are two children, James Archer, Waynetown, Rt. 2, and Mrs. Thomas Wiggins of near Mellott, three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. One grandchild died in infancy. Funeral services will be at 2 p. m. Tuesday (CST) at Antioch Church, the Rev. Harry Davis of Fairmount, Ind., officiating. Burial in Dry Run Cemetery, Grenard of Waynetown in charge.
