ATTICA — James “Jim” Anderson, 84, formerly of 404 E. Washington St., Attica, died at 9:05 a.m. Thursday, June 6, 2002 in St. Vincent Williamsport Hospital. He had been hospitalized for the past three weeks. He was born Sept. 24, 1917 in Attica, the son of James A. and Mary Bell Arms Anderson. He married Ruth E. Beavers March 28, 1936 in Attica. She preceded in death Sept. 30, 1988. He was a life resident of Attica and attended Attica High School. He worked as a general manager at VanDevender Grain Elevator, Jones Elevator and Dri-All, all of Attica, where he retired from Dri-All in 1984. He also worked at Harrison Steel Castings Company in Attica. He was an avid baseball fan and a die-hard Chicago Cub fan. He enjoyed reading and in his early life enjoyed hunting Survivors include: a daughter, Kathy (Ed) Bowen, Attica; a son, Arthur L. (Peggy) Anderson, Attica; a sister, Elizabeth “Liz” (Eugene) Everett, Crawfordsville; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Osborne,; two sisters, Jessie Lancaster and Juanita Corey; and two brothers, Fowler and Paul Anderson. Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Monday in Maus Funeral Home, Attica, with the Rev. Ed Osborne and Ed Bowen officiating. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery, Attica. Contributions may be made at the funeral home to the Attica Little League Summer Baseball Program. – jlr
