STATE LINE, Ind. (CNS) — E. D. Amos, 86, a resident of State Line for more than 50 years, died at 12:45 a.m. Saturday (Oct. 2, 1971) at St. Elizabeth Hospital. He had been a patient 10 days. Born Feb. 15, 1885, in Lexington County, Ind., he also had formerly resided in Kentland and Scottsburg. He first married Lillian Blackerby, who died. He then married Etta Marie Worden, who died Jan. 23, 1927. He was married Oct. 28, 1927, to Birdie Carter, who died in 1968. Mr. Amos had farmed most of his life and had operated a grocery in State Line for many years. He was a member of Mound Masonic Lodge 274 where he was a past master and had served as secretary for 20 years. He also was a member of the Danville Scottish Rite and Moose Lodge 1001 and the West Lebanon Chapter 162, Order of Eastern Star. Survivors include three sons, Bernon of Rockfield, Ill., Robert J. and Ernest .W, both of State Line; five daughters, Mrs. Helen Hillis of Kentland, Mrs. William (Margaret) Inman of Williamsport Route 2, Mrs. Willis (Dorothy Ruth) Parks of Oregon, N.M., Mrs. Bob (Esther) Bostwick of Covington Route 2 and Mrs. John (Joan) Murry of Williamsport; 25 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. He also was preceded in death by a son and three stepsons. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home. The Rev. Grover Williams will officiate. Burial will be in State Line Masonic Cemetery. The body is at the funeral home. Friends will be received after 7 p.m. Saturday and after 2 p.m. Sunday. Masonic services will be at 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
