Attica - Imogene Banta Alward, 80, 1917 E US 41, died Wednesday Aug 7 in her home. Born Sept 5, 1915 in Judyville, Warren County, she grew up in Covington and graduated from Covington HS in 1933. She lived in Rockville for 11 years before moving to Attica in 1964.
Mrs. Alward graduated from St. Elizabeth School of Nursing in Danville, Ill in 1937 and was a registered nurse. She married Leston L. "Bus" Alward on Sept 21, 1937 in Parke County. They had wintered in Bonita Springs, Fla for the past 19 years. They owned the Skelgas LP Gas Co in Rockville and Wallace. In 1962 they purchased Allen Nursing Home in Attica which became the Alward Nursing Home and operated that until 1973. In 1972, they built the Woodland Manor Nursing Center in Attica. Mrs. Alward was a member of the Attica-Williamsport Presbyterian Church and Order of Eastern Star Fountain Chapter 204. She and her husband formerly were avid square dancers. Surviving are her husband and a daughter, Mrs. Scott (Linda) Brown of Attica.

Interment Wolf Creek Cemetery near Wallace. Surviving is a granddaughter, Lori Short, Indianapolis. Two brothers and two sisters preceded in death. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of ones choice.
