George Pearlie Alward, son of Henry and Sarah Alward was born on a farm near Wallace, Indiana Dec 25, 1882. He attended the public schools of that community. He spent most of his adult life in the Dakotas and California. For some time he was a teacher in the Dakota public schools. He went to California 12 years ago. He was an employee of the El Segundo plant of Douglas Aircraft. In Sept 1954 he underwent a major operation from which he never fully recovered. On Feb 22, 1955he entered the Centinella Hospital and died the night of Feb 25. Funeral services were held in the Colonial Chapel of the Hardin & Flanagan Mortuary Tuesday March 1 with Dr. Paul Huebner, pastor of the Inglewood First Methodist Church officiating. Burial was in Inglewood Park Cemetery. The parents and one sister, Mrs. Ina Bowman of near Wallace preceded him in death. Surviving are three brothers: Bert, Thurman and Arista and one sister, Icel; two sister-in-laws, Charlotte and Sadie Alward all of the Kingman, Indiana community, 3 nieces 5 nephews 6 great nieces, 3 great nephews, several cousins and many friends. He had been a resident of Inglewood, California for the past 11 years. – kbz
