Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday May 21 at the First Baptist Church, Covington for Schuyler Allen, 67, of Covington. Allen, the operator of Allen Pontiac Oldsmobile and a former Covington City Council member, died at 5:50 p.m. Friday, May 18 at University Hospital in Indianapolis where he had been a patient five days. Dr. Gregg Curtis officiated and burial was in Mount Hope Cemetery. Bodine & SHelby Funeral Home was in charge. He was a life resident of Fountain County, attended Yeddo and Kingman schools. A farmer in early life, he moved to Covington in 1947. He was a Allis-chalmers dealer form 1947 to 1958 and also began dealing Pontiacs in 1947. He also had sold Oldsmobiles since 1961. He had served on the Covington City Council 12 years. He was a member of Fountain Lodge No. 60 F&AM. He was b. June 24, 1916, in Fountain co, the s/o Cleveland and Jessie Miller Allen. on Dec 19, 1936, he was married to Ilene Raypole. She survives. Other survivors include a son, Stephen L. and two daughters, Mrs. Ron (Carolyn) Gore and Mrs. Dallas (Nancy) Hutsler of Covington; a brother, Sherman, Rural Kingman; 3 sisters, Mrs. Lowell (Lorene) Riley, Rt 1, Veedersburg; Mrs. Norma (Oveta) Clem, Covington and Mrs. Patricia Guyer, Rt. 1 Perrysville; 4 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Phil and a sister, Lois Dillon . - kbz
