Covington - Lois Annetta Allen, 81, 822 Crockett St, Covington went to be with the Lord at 8:49 p.m. Tuesday, Aug 5, 1997 in the emergency room of United Samaritans Medical Center, Logan Campus, Danville, Ill. She was born Jan 28, 1916 in Covington daughter of William G and Roberta Baldwin Howard. She married Franklin Melben Allen, April 2, 1932. He preceded in death Oct 17, 1992. She was a life resident of Covington. She was employed in food service in the Danville VA Medical Center for 8 years, retiring in 1971. She enjoyed her grandchildren and crocheting. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Covington. Surviving are two sons, Franklin D (Frances) Allen, Williamsport; John (Betsy) Allen, Mulberry; two daughter, Kathryn Carey, Covington, Clara Ann (John) Townsend, Monticello; two sisters, Katherine Hale, Covington; Iola Darnell, Covington; 13 grandchildren 20 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a son, Samuel Allen, a daughter, Norma Jean Compton; a sister, Reatha Simerl, and brother, William Howard. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m .today in Shelby Funeral Home, Covington with Dr. Glenn Ray Sr officiating. Burial in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Covington.
