Jesse F. Allen, 77, of Route 1, Veedersburg, died at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 19 at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Danville, Ill. He had been a patient a day. A life resident of Fountain County, he had farmed all of his life, retiring in 1973. He also had been a carpenter and had been employed by contractor Ed Powers in Veedersburg for several years. He was a member of the Coopers Chapel Church. His hobbies were fishing and spectator sports. He was born Nov. 11, 1907, in Wabash Township, Fountain County, the son of Pearl and Susan Askren Allen. He attended Rabb School. He married Mabel L. Marsh Sept. 21, 1935. She survives. Other survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Earl (Janet) Wiggins, Veedersburg; a son Sharrole “Buck”, Veedersburg; six grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Dalmer. Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 22, at the Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home in Covington. The Rev. Joel Hutson officiated. Burial was in Kingman Fraternal Cemetery at Kingman. - S
