Covington - Ida Catherine Allen, 79, a life resident of the Stringtown community, died suddenly Wednesday morning at her home on Rt. 1. She was a daughter of Gicamo and Catherine Marcia Berto and was born in Stringtown Jan 28, 1892. She married Willard Allen Nov 14, 1911. He died March 8, 1966. Survivors include a son, Norman C of Anderson; four grandchildren and four great grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Zimmie "Anna" Allen of Rt. 1, Covington. A son, Darrell, two brothers and two sisters preceded Mrs. Allen in death. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home with Rev. Alfred Dobbs officiating and burial in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday afternoon and evening.

Survivors include a son, Norman C. of Anderson; a sister, Mrs. Zimmie (Ann) Allen of Covington Rt 1; four grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by two brothers, two sisters and a son.
