ALLEN, Hobart L. - Fountain County INGenWeb Project

Hobart L. Allen, 71, a retired school teacher died at 4:45 p.m. yesterday, March 6, 1968 at the VA Hospital. He had been a patient there several years. Born in Fountain County, near Cates, Dec 20, 1896, he was married Aug 12, 1919 at Covington to Isy Holland, who survives. Mr. Allen had taught 38 years in country schools, including Cates, Frog Pond, Steam Corner, Logan Twp and Marshfield schools. He retired 13 years ago. He was a grad. of Danville Normal Teacher's College, Danville, Ind. He was a member of the W. Lebanon Christian Church. Other survivors include two daughters, Mrs Roy Cronk and Mrs. Frances Freeman; a sister, Mrs. Estella Orahood; 3 brothers, Herschel; Howard and Harold; 7 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Services will be at 11:30 p.m.S at at the Crowmer and Sidens Funeral Home, W. Lebanon. The Rev. Kenneth Littleford will officiate. Burial in W. Lebanon Cem. The body is at the funeral home. Friends will be received after 2 p.m. Friday. The American Legion Post will conduct graveside military rites.
