Hiram Allen, 90, Hillsboro Dies
Hiram Allen, 90, who made his home here with his son, Byron Allen, died Thursday night at 6:15 o'clock at the Small Nursing home in Waynetown. He had been a patient at the home since last Dec. 1. Death was attributed to the infirmities of age. Born May 4, 1859 in Missouri, he was the son of William and Zerilda McKee Allen. He married Emma Myers who preceded him in death March 20, 1943. Allen was a member of the Wallace Lutheran Church. He had lived all of his life in Fountain County, for many years in the vicinity of Wallace. In his younger years he was a school teacher and later farmed. (dated April 13, 1950)

Hiram D. Allen, 90, lifetime resident of Fountain County who in late years made his home with his son, Mr. and Mrs. Byron Allen of Hillsboro died at the Small Nursing Home in Waynetown at 6:15 Thursday evening, April 13. Mr. Allen entered the nursing home on Dec 1 and his death was attributed to infirmities of old age. He was the son of William and Zerilda McKee Allen and was born in Missouri on May 4, 1859. He was married to Emma Myers and their married life was spent in the vicinity of Wallace. She died March 20, 1943. In his early years Mr. Allen was a school teacher and the remainder of his active life was spent at farming. He was a member of the Lutheran Church of Wallace. He was the last of his immediate family. Survivors are five sons: Ivan Allen of Waynetown; Fine F. Allen of Indianapolis; Bernard Allen of Detroit, Mich; the Rev. Wilbur Allen of Mishawaka; Byron Allen of Hillsboro and one daughter, Mrs. Edith Krout of Ft. Wayne. The body was removed to the Grenard & Servies Funeral Home in Waynetown where it remained until the funeral which was held from the Lutheran Church at Wallace at 2 p.m. Sunday with burial in the cemetery nearby. – thanks to Brenda
