Grant H. Allen. 78, of Mesa , AZ , died 7:10 p.m. Sunday (Oct. 8, 1978) at the Americana Healthcare Center, where he had been a resident since Sept. 20. Allen , who had been in failing health since Aug. 14, was visiting a stepson in Danville when he was taken ill. Allen worked 36 years as a machinist at Motor Wheels Co. in Lansing, Mich., retiring in 1962. His hobbies were handicrafts and reading. Born Aug. 10, 1900 in Charlotte, Mich., he was the son of Horace Greeley and Minerva Marsha Allen. He attended Charlotte schools. He married Hazel Hamp, who preceded him in death. On Dec. 2, 1964, He married Ethel Pauline Watts. She survives. Visitation will be 7-9 tonight at Pape Memorial Home. The body will be taken to the Skinner Funeral Home in Eaton Rapids, Mich., where visitation will be Tuesday afternoon and evening. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Skinner Funeral Home with Rec. Grant Schrauger officiating. Burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery at Eaton Rapids.
