Covington - Frank Kelsey Allen, 84, a life resident of Fountain County and a retired farmer died at 10:30 a.m. Sunday in his home here. He had been in failing health a year. He had been a resident of Covington since 1959. He was a member and one of the original builders of the Old Kentucky Bethel Baptist Church. He was also past commander of Old Guard Post 2395 VFW and member of Fulton-Banta Post 291 of the American Legion. Mr. allen served with the American Expeditionary FOrce Battery C 323rd Light Field Artillery in the battles of Argonne Forest, Grant Montagne and Meuse. He was decorated for combat efficience in Luxemburg. He was born May 22, 1890, to Samuel Robert and Elanor Mendenhall Allen. He was married Nov 28, 1922 to Frances Elizabeth Kirkpatrick. She survives. Also surviving are two sons, Clifford Kelsey Allen of Covington and Fred F. Allen of Villa Grove, Ill; a daughter, Mrs. Wayne (Peggy) Dare of Covington; a half sister, Mrs. Vera Kinneer of Rt 2, Kingman; 5 grandchildren. A son, three brothers, a sister and two half -brothers are deceased. Services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday in Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home with Rev. Glenn Huffman officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. today.

Frank Kelsey Allen, 84, died 10:30 a.m. Sunday at his home, 1115 Third St., Covington. He had been in failing health for one year.
He was born of Quaker heritage in Fountain County, son of Samuel Robert and Eleanor Mendenhall Allen on May 22, 1890. He was married Nov. 28, 1922, to Frances Elizabeth Kirkpatrick, who survives.
Also surviving are two sons and one daughter, Fred F. Allen, Villa Grove, Ill.; Clifford Kelsey Allen, Covington; Mrs. Wayne (Peggy) Dare, Covington; five grandchildren; one half sister, Mrs. Vera Kinneer, Rt. 2, Kingman. He was preceded in death by one son, three brothers, one sister and two half brothers.
A retired farmer, he had resided in Covington since 1959. He formerly lived in the Portland Arch area several years. He was a member and one of the original builders of Old Kentucky Bethel Baptist Church. He was past Commander of Fountain County Old Guard Post 2395, VFW; member of Fulton Banta Post 291, American Legion, and Veterans of World War I. He served with the American Expeditionary Force with Battery C, 323rd Light Infantry Artillery in France and participated in the battle of Argonne Forest and Grand Montagne and was decorated for combat efficiency in Luxembourg.
Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home in Covington with Rev. Glenn Huffman officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Monday.
