Ferris D. Allen of RR 1 Covington age 67 died Thursday morning July 23 in the Veterans Admin Hospital at Indianapolis. He was born in Cates Nov 22, 1913 the son of David and Ida Wallace Allen. Aug 18, 1935 he married Mildred Sorrells who survives. A Navy Vet of WWII he was a member of Walter Hoyt American Legion Post and Masonic Lodge at Perrsyville and 40 & 8 at Terre Haute. He retired in 1978 after working 11 years as a construction carpenter at the Veteranss Hospital at Danville, Ill. Also surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Peggy Barker of R 1, Covington; two sisters, Mrs. Gay Crowder of Perrysville and Mrs. Fredia Holycross of Danville, Ill; 3 grandchildren. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at Bodine & Shelby in Covington with Rev. Wm. Rudd officiating. Burial in Lower Mound Cemetery, north of Perrysville.
