Waynetown - Ethan W. Allen, 72, died late Monday night at the home of a son, D. W. Allen, Rt 8, Lafayette, after an illness of 9 years. He had been seriously ill one week. Mr. Allen had been a farmer and trucker. He worked 5 years at the Harrison Steel Castings Company in Attica. A native of Fountain Co, he was born Nov 27, 1891, the son of Cornelius and Harriet Sowers Allen. He was married April 4, 1912, to Ida Wendall, who preceded him in death Jan 29 of this year. Mr. Allen attended No. 1 School in Parke Co. Survivors include the son and daughter-in-law, a brother, Emery Allen of Hillsboro; two sisters, Mrs. George Gooding, Rt 3 and Mrs. Ical Shelton of Crawfordsville, six grandchildren and three greats. Funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at the Servies Funeral Home in Waynetown with Rev. John Servies officiating. Burial will be in Masonic Cemetery Waynetown. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Wednesday. - kbz

Ethan W. Allen, 72, retired farmer and trucker died in the home of his son, D.W.Allen, Rt 8 Lafayette at 11:55 p.m. Monday just 12 days after the death of his wife. In failing health 9 years he was in serious condition a week. A native of Fountain County, he was married to Ida Wendall at Rockville in 1912. His wife died Jan 29. He formerly was a farmer and trucker and also worked five years in the plant of the Harrison Steel Castings Co in Attica before his retirement. Surviving with the son are a brother, Emery of Hillsboro and two sisters, Mrs. George Gooding of Rt 3, Crawfordsville and Mrs. Ical Shelton of Crawfordsville. - kbz
