Carl Wayne Allen, 85 Crawfordsville, died 8:20 a.m. Thursday in his home. Mr. Allen worked as a truck driver for Redi-Mix Concrete for 20 years, retiring in 1983, and previously worked at the Waynetown Brick Company. He was an Army veteran serving during WWII. His memberships include Alamo Christian Church, First Church of God in Crawfordsville, Teamsters, American Legion Post 72, VFW Post 1431 and American Legion 40&8. He was born September 10, 1920 in Montgomery County to Freeman and Leona Krout Allen and raised by Earl and Myrtle Stanford of Alamo. He graduated from Alamo HS in 1939. On Jan 10, 1941 he married Edna Swank of Crawfordsville. She died in 2003. Survivors include one daughter, Barbara Denham, Crawfordsville; one son, Robert (Marilyn) Allen, Veedersburg; three sisters, Wynona Hunley, Waveland; Mary Brady, Crawfordsville; Jean Gleason, Crawfordsville; 8 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild. Four sisters and one infant brother are deceased. Funeral services are scheduled 10:30 a.m. today in Powers-Priebe Funeral Home with Rev. Sam Peck officiatnig. Burial will bein Masonic Cemetery, Waynetown with graveside military rites performed by the VFW and American Legion posts of Crawfordsville.

Crawfordsville - Carl Wayne Allen, 85, of Crawfordsville died at 8:20 a.m. Thursday May 11, 2006 in his home. Born Sept 10, 1920 to the late Freeman and Leona Krout Allen in Montgomery County he was raised by Earl and Myrtle Stanford of Alamo Ind and was a 1939 graduate of Alamo High School. He was a veteran, serving in the Army during WWII. His marriage was to Edna Swank on Jan 10, 1941 in Crawfordsville and she preceded him in death in 2003. Mr. Allen was a truck driver for Redi-Mix Concrete for 20 years, retiring in 1983. He previously worked at the Waynetown Brick Company. He was a member of Alamo Christian Church and attended First Church of God in Crawfordsville. He was also a member of the Teamsters Union, American Legion Post 72, VFW Post 1431 and the American Legion 40&8. Surviving are a daughter, Barbara Denham of Crawfordsville; a son, Robert Allen (wife: Marilyn) of Veedersburg and three sisters, Wyona Hundley (sic - Hunley) of Waveland; Mary Brady and Jean Gleason, both of Crawfordsville. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. today at Powers-Priebe Funeral Home 315 S. Washington St, Crawfordsville with service there 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Rev. Sam Peck officiating. Interment with military graveside rites by Crawfordsville VFW and American Legion Posts at the Masonic Cemetery, Waynetown.
