Estabelle Algood, the daughter of James and Franey Shoaf Algood was born at Yeddo, Indiana March 28, 1887. When about 16 years of age she and her sister came to Champaign County in Illinois. In the fall of 1914, she was married to Marshall B. Kane. She and her husband first made their home near Loda, Illinois; later moving to northern Iowa. About 15 years ago they moved to Gibson City which has since been their home. As a young girl, she joined the United Brethren Church in Indiana. The Christian principles which she adopted in her youth radiated throughout the entire period of her life. Her kindly spirit and sympathetic understanding has enriched the lives of all who were privileged to know her. While not in the best of health for the last month it was not until last Thursday that she became critically ill. All that was humanly possible was done to relieve her but on Monday morning, March 28 her birthday she passed into God’s Eternity having attained the age of 51 years. She is survived by her bereaved husband of Gibson City and by two sisters, Mrs. Ida Newnum of Kingston, Ind and Mrs. Dessie Clements of Urbana, Illinois. The funeral was held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday March 30 at Lamb’s Funeral Home, the services being in charge of Rev. RM Luedde, pastor of the Christian Church. Burial was in Rantoul cemetery.
