ALDRIDGE, Edwi - Fountain County INGenWeb Project

Edwin Aldridge, 81, of 14 Col9umbus died at 8 this morning (Aug. 25, 1976) at St. Elizabeth Hospital, where he had been a patient since Aug. 17. Mr. Aldridge had served as Republican precinct committeeman from the 27th Danville precinct since 1962. He was a member of the Audubon Society and Curtis G. Redden American Legion Post 210. Mr. Aldridge moved to Danville in 1960, five years after he retired from his job of 25 years as a furniture salesman for Marshall Field and Co. in Chicago. He served aboard the USS Barner, a destroyer, in the Atlantic theater during World War II. He was a member of the Second Church of Christ. Born March 25, 1895 near Iola, he was a son of Samuel and Anna Boston Alldridge. He married the former Reva Miller in 1961 in Danville. She survives. Other survivors include three stepsons, Robert Swinford of Rantoul, Richard J. Miller of Elburn and Ronald L. Miller of Danville; a stepdaughter, Mrs. William (Shirley) Laird of Danville; two sisters, Mrs. Carl (Eva) Talbott and Miss Iva Alldridge, both of Potomac. He was preceded in death by a brother and a sister. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Lakeside Funeral Chapel, with Gary Morning officiating. Burial will be in Potomac Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
